This week’s playlist was one which I particularly enjoyed putting together. We opened up with four crackers from Ruf Records’ wonderful stable of international female artists.
From Finland there was Erja Lyytinen, from the UK, Blues Award nominee, Joanne Shaw Taylor plus two brand new CDs from Austrian, Meena and the first Ruf Records CD from the superb Canadian Shakura S’Aida. And that was just the first bit!!!
In the gig guide we had tracks from the Paul Cox Band, The SPIKEdrivers and the Nightflies all of whom were playing locally over the next 7 days then there was a lovely instrumental track from France’s Awek. Don’t forget teh Digital Blues Gig Guide at www.digitalblues.co.uk for all teh blues gigs in and around the area.
The final segment featured three more ladies with a superb track from the debut CD from Cath Butler’s Joynt Venture who hail from Queensland, Australia, a track from the late Koko Taylor’s 2007 CD, ‘Old School’, one of Blues Revue’s 25 defining CDs of the last decade and we finished with another Australian artist, Anni Piper. Phew!
That’s Digital Blues, blues ancient and modern on internet radio!!!
Please do join the fun at www.gatewayfm.com at 21.00 GMT this and every Wednesday.
